Living in poverty writes the future story for many children. They have a 35% higher likelihood of living in poverty as adults and are more likely to have feelings of failure and hopelessness about their future. As a result, they are at significant risk of developing mental health issues. A huge barrier to economic improvement is a lack of affordable childcare within hours that meet the needs of low-income families. Providing 24/7 childcare increases parents’ potential and allows them to accept higher-paying jobs. Child and parent move together out of poverty when parents are gainfully employed, breaking the cycle of poverty. Stepping Stones Childcare by Switchpoint provides enriched programming designed to give the best possible start to youth. Programs may include art and play therapy, yoga, dance, piano lessons, tutoring, story time, and more.
