Save Our Seniors

Many of our beloved seniors are facing a serious crisis. Their ability to afford both food and shelter is on a razor’s edge. On March 1, 2023, many lost food benefits, leaving them $100 short each month. When they come to us, we're seeing that many are skipping meals and going hungry in order to cover their rent. This is a tragic circumstance we hope you will help us resolve. It is estimated that 700 vulnerable older adults in Utah will become homeless in 2023 due to higher housing cost displacement. The alarming disparity between the average cost of living for seniors on social security, which amounts to approximately $800 a month, and the escalating monthly rental costs exceeding $600 necessitates urgent and compassionate action to ensure the well-being and dignity of our senior citizens. Switchpoint is launching the "Save Our Seniors" campaign with the ambitious goal of providing 400 deeply affordable senior housing units before November 1, 2023, ensuring our unsheltered older adult population can find safe, secure, and comfortable housing during the winter months and beyond. By joining us to Save Our Seniors, you’re helping cover their rent of $500 a month or the $100 gap in their monthly food benefits. Any amount you donate helps us end this all-too-real crisis our seniors are experiencing. Please partner with us in disrupting the cycle of poverty and homelessness. It takes all of us.
